Chapman Wins RDGA Mid Am Title in Exciting 18th Hole Finale at Cobblestone
August was a busy month for RDGA Championships, as we conducted our District Senior (55 and above) Championships, as well as our District Mid Amateur (25 and above) Championship during the same week. Both events resulted in exciting conclusions.
In the 2026 RDGA Senior Championship Wilson W. Fitch Jr. Memorial at Brook-Lea Country Club, Jim Scorse and Ken Starkweather went to a playoff hole to decide the winner - with Stafford's Scorse winning the playoff - and the title.
In the RDGA Mid Amateur Championship at Cobblestone Creek Country Club, Christian Chapman, winner of the 2022 RDGA District Championship John H. Ryan Jr. Memorial, captured his first Mid Am title in an exciting finish, coming from behind on the final hole of play.
Re-Imagined for 2026, The Jerry Stahl Junior Golf Camp and Academy Enjoying A Successful Year Two
Launched a year ago as the Jerry Stahl Scholarship Program, the 2026 Jerry Stahl Junior Golf Academy is proudly organized by the Rochester District Golf Association - with support from the Oak Hill Foundation, First Tee Western New York and the RDGA Foundation. The camp, aims to bring the game of golf to a group of junior golfers from Rochester's underserved communities, most of whom have never played golf before.
Now in Year Two, the Jerry Stahl Junior Golf Academy expanded its reach to include a three-day golf camp for those participants who demonstrate a skill or desire to learn more. Hosted by Genesee Valley Golf Course last month, the Jerry Stahl Junior Golf Camp featured introductory golf videos, three-station learning areas for putting, short game and full swing, lunch and "fun zone" (non-golf) among the scheduled activities each day. On the final day of Camp, each junior played a complete, full-sized hole on which they engaged all of the skills they learned during Camp!
